A

Access control

Doors open by chip, code, phone or card instead of a key. Rights apply per person, door and time, every entry is logged.

Matter

A cross-vendor standard so that devices from different brands talk to each other. Runs over Wi-Fi or Thread and is supported by Home Assistant.

Modbus

A simple protocol through which inverters, meters and heat pumps expose their values locally. Home Assistant reads it over the network or a serial line.

S

SG-Ready

A standardised interface on heat pumps with two contacts. Through it the controller can give the heat pump a release signal on solar surplus.

Shelly

Small radio relays that fit behind an existing light switch or into a junction box. They make existing wiring controllable without new cables.

Zigbee

A low-power radio standard for lamps, sensors and plugs. Devices form a mesh among themselves, range grows with every mains-powered device.
